Head Trainer:
Morgan Carr
Morgan Carr was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. Morgan attended Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio from 1993-1997 majoring in equine science. While at Lake Erie College, Morgan rode on the Lake Erie College IHSA Team, Team de Ville Jumper Team and received such honors as IHSA Zone Champion, Regional Reserve Champion and finished 3rd at the IHSA National Championships in Colorado.
Morgan’s post college career found him in New Mexico where he began breaking and training Holsteiners. Later, Morgan exclusively trained two private students in Austin, Texas. Both private students qualified for the 1998 AHSA Pony Finals. In 1999 Morgan relocated to Seattle and was assistant trainer at a large sales barn.
Encanto Valley Farm was started in June 2001. In 2011, Morgan became a USHJA certified trainer. Morgan has had numerous personal success in both the hunter and jumper rings from Baby Green Hunters through Grand Prix, as well as coaching success from the Short/Long Stirrup Hunters through Jr/AO and Grand Prix.
Assistant Trainer:
Franny Watkins
Franny became an assistant trainer in 2019. She started riding with Morgan when she was 8 years old. After receiving her Associates Degree from Bellevue College, and following a successful junior career, she decided to become a professional trainer at Encanto Valley Farm. She is an essential part of all the day to day functions on the farm. She does everything from scheduling the lessons, teaching the young ones, helping school the horses, and doing the office work at the horse shows. She is adored by the clients due to her beaming personality and true love for the horses. She is very invested in perfecting the horse and rider team.
Franny started riding in the short stirrup horse division and made her way up through the years developing with each horse she rode. Franny is truly her happiest when she is on a horse and everyone who has seen her ride feels her passion. Franny’s students have fun in a very safe environment. She encourages mastering the basics and loves teaching the proper horsemanship.
The Family
Tia Carr
Tia Carr was born and raised on Bainbridge Island, WA. Tia graduated from Lake Erie College in 1997 with a degree in Accounting and joined Morgan in Austin, Texas after a brief stint as a groom for a large hunter/jumper stable in Los Angeles, California.
Tia turned pro in 1998 and competed successfully in the Grand Prix ring on her TB mare Bittersweet. After marrying Morgan in 1999, Tia persuaded him to return to the Pacific Northwest. In 2000 Tia was reinstated as an amateur.
Tia now works for Amazon Web Services as a Director of Business and Product Operations. Tia enjoys competing in the Low & Medium Amateur Jumpers with Goose and Rooster.
Vivienne Carr
Vivienne Carr was born on April 23, 2003. She enjoyed playing soccer for Coastal Carolina University. She will graduate Spring 2025 with a degree in Political Science and will be attending Law School (where TBD) in the Fall of 2025.
Viv leads Encanto’s cheering squad when she is in town.
